FAQs - Frequently asked questions

Q1. What is the difference between Coaxial cable and UTP cable?

Coaxial cable is best for analog CCTV cameras;  it delivers strong signal over long distances with minimal interference. UTP (CAT6) cable is ideal for IP cameras; it can transmit both data and power through a single cable using PoE technology. JUAA offers premium quality in both types.

Q2. Which cable is best for CCTV installation — Coaxial or CAT6?

Coaxial cable is recommended for analog camera systems. CAT6 UTP cable is best for IP camera systems. If you plan to upgrade to an IP system in the future, CAT6 is the more future-proof choice.

Q3. What is 100% genuine copper cable and why does it matter?

A 100% genuine copper cable uses a pure copper conductor — not CCA (Copper Clad Aluminum). Pure copper reduces signal loss, offers greater durability, and delivers consistent performance over long runs. JUAA PUREGOLD and JUAA CAT6 cables are made with 100% genuine copper.

Q4. How many meters of cable are sufficient for CCTV installation?

Coaxial cable delivers effective signal up to 300–500 meters. CAT6 UTP cable performs best up to 100 meters. For longer distances, JUAA bulk cable rolls are available in 90M and 305M options.

Q5. Which cable should I use for outdoor CCTV installation?

For outdoor installations, use weatherproof or UV-resistant coaxial or CAT6 cable. JUAA outdoor-grade cables are designed to withstand harsh weather conditions and ensure reliable long-term performance.

Q6. Why does signal loss occur in coaxial cable?

Signal loss is typically caused by poor quality copper, improper connectors, or damaged insulation. JUAA PUREGOLD cables use 100% genuine copper with strong shielding to minimize signal loss — even over long cable runs.

Q7. What is the difference between CAT6 and CAT5e for CCTV?

CAT6 cable supports higher bandwidth, reduces crosstalk, and delivers better performance over longer distances compared to CAT5e. CAT6 is the recommended choice for IP cameras and PoE-based surveillance systems.

Q8. What is the average lifespan of a CCTV cable?

Good quality indoor coaxial cable lasts 10–15 years. Outdoor cables typically last 5–8 years depending on the environment. JUAA cables are built with premium materials to ensure long-term reliability.

Q9. What is a BNC connector and how is it used?

A BNC (Bayonet Neill-Concelman) connector is used to connect coaxial cable to a CCTV camera or DVR. Its twist-and-lock mechanism ensures a secure and stable connection. BNC connectors are available in the JUAA accessories range.

Q10. Why are power and video cables separate in CCTV systems?

Traditional analog CCTV systems require separate cables for power and video. Siamese cables  which combine coaxial and power in one-allow both to run in a single installation. For IP cameras, a single CAT6 PoE cable carries both power and data.
